I am a very inthusiastic person who is hopeful and excited on all levels of Thanet Earth. Misimformation of the changes being created within the area to the land and wildlife within it is not completely justified, simply misinformed. Nature and the land naturaly changes constantly, as is the never ending increase in our population and consumption.

Would it be possible for all doubting thomases to look positively at the manipulated change by man in the Thanet Earth Project, as a step in the right direction for our future. Our planet will be much further sustainable when man accepts change as an inevitability and learns to work WITH nature and the wildlife within it.
THAT I AM SURE IS THE VERY STATEMENT IN ITSELF THAT THANET EARTH IS MAKING
I FOR ONE WELCOLM THIS PROJECT.

I have had the opportunity to visit the site and to talk to a number of interested and disinterested parties.
It seems that a lot of negative, disinformation is swirling around - as usual. "Constant Daylight", "Drought created" "Roads clogged up" "Views ruined". Doom and gloom all round eh?
Not so. (1)I have learnt that The Kent Wildlife Trust are working with Fresca, advising them on how to plant the ground aroud the site with native, natural grasses creating a much needed haven for flora and fauna. (2) The pest control used within the greenhouses will be - - I love this bit - - bumble bees with hives in the greenhouses, plus ladybirds and lacewings. (3)Electricity will be fed back into the grid and (4) water run off from the acres of roofing captured in reservoirs alongside each 'house.
Jobs are there to be had, the wildlife encouraged, waste water used, power put back into the grid. . . what more do people want?

Concern has been raised regarding light pollution from the Thanet Earth greenhouses. After chatting to bods at T.E we understand that the Campaign for Dark Skies, http://www.britastro.org/dark-skies organisation have been advising Fresca and have given Thanet Earth a thumbs-up. The whole point is to light the plants not the skies so electronically controlled shuttering has been/is being fitted to the glass roofs.

Ken: As the jobs on offer will be to work within the greenhouses, caring for the plants, tying in trusses, checking for aphids etc . . there will be little point employing people until the buildings are complete. Wouldn't you agree?

Hi Pete, I'm researching the Thanet Earth development for a story I'm writing for EHN. I'd love to have a chat. Please get in touch.

While you are at it, why not complain about East Kent Access - Phase 2, carving great swathes across Thanet farmland, to improve the A299 and A256 at Cliffsend. No-one seems bothered about the loss about all that farm land...
